About Us

Based in our modern, purpose built, headquarters 1st Old Malden (St John the Baptist) Scout Group has served the young people of the ancient parish of Old Malden since 1950.

The Group is sponsored by the parish church of St John the Baptist.

1st Old Malden Scout Group is an active, friendly, family Scout Group with sections for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

We run an exciting weekly programme with the focus on outdoor adventure, whilst providing the opportunity to develop friendships and understanding of others in a fun, exciting and safe way. We provide scouting activities for children and young people aged 6 -18 across Old Malden, Worcester Park and New Malden and our aim is to give “Better Scouting for More Young People in Old Malden”.

About Us

We usually have a membership of over 80 Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts supported entirely by volunteers and fundraising.

In 2005, we were awarded the “County Commissioner’s Standard”; a local Scouting kitemark which recognises good quality, organised Scouting.

In 2001 we successfully applied for a Community Fund grant to replace our previous headquarters with the purpose-built, accessible facilities that we have today.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
